Jacob
Javan Slow Loris
Jacob is a small, nocturnal, and very slow animal that likes to hang in trees. Though his movement is slow, Jacob is pretty smart, he can choose fruits that are ripe, not sour, and can separate the skin & seeds from the fruit. He loves fruits, insects, and nectars.
Javan Slow Loris is 25 of the world’s rarest primates and is the rarest type of slow loris compared to the other slow lorises. Unfortunately, this mammal is often traded and the population has decreased by 80% over the past 24 years.
Kevin
Black-spotted Cuscus
Kevin is Jacob’s best friend. He loves to hang out with Jacob at night and sleep together during the day. He likes to eat seeds, various kinds of fruit, and insects or small animals.
Black-spotted Cuscus is one of 71 rarest animals in Indonesia, the population has decreased by 80% in the past 15 years. The loss of cuscus’ habitat due to the conversion of forest into the cultivation area is one of the causes of the rarity of this animal.
Booboo
Celebes Crested Macaque
Booboo has an adorable crest and huge pink buttock. He likes to sleep on trees and look for his favorite foods, which are flowers, leaves, and tasty fruits. Booboo always hangs out with his family.
The population has continued to decrease by 80% in the past 40 years. In Tangkoko Wildlife Forest in Bitung City it is estimated that there are only 5,000 individuals left. The main threat of this poor monkey is being hunted for consumption by the people.
Sena
Golden-mantled Tree-kangaroo
Sena is a shy tree-kangaroo. She always hides in the trees to avoid other animals during the day. She is overprotective to her child and always making sure her child is safe and sound. She loves fruits, flowers, leaves, and the bark of a tree.
But the population has decreased by 80% in the past 30 years and the causes are damage to the habitat and wild hunting.
Mila
Sumatran Tiger
Mila is a playful tiger that likes to play hide and seek in the forest. Unlike other tigers, she has a darker skin tone and thinner stripes. She is a carnivore, which means meat-eater.
Sadly, this playful tiger keeps losing her friends. The population is less than 400 individuals. 49% of forests in Sumatra are lost due to oil palm plantations. People hunt them as well.
Rico
Sumatran Rhinoceros
Rico is the only rhinoceros that has two horns and fur all over his body. His daily life is relaxing below the shelter. He likes to eat tree branches, leaves, and fruits by herself.
The wild population is estimated to be around 70-100 individuals left due to habitat destruction, wild hunting, and Sumatran rhinos are also difficult to breed. The mating cycle is only every one and a half years.
Tina
Tapanuli Orangutan
Tina has thicker and curler hair compared to other orangutans. She is quite independent. She loves unique foods, such as agathis, aturmangan seeds, and Palaquium rostratum. But she has the same problem as Rico’s, which is difficult to breed.
Tina needs 15 years to give birth to her first child.
Tapanuli Orangutans were discovered in 2017 but apparently has fewer than 800 individuals because of habitat loss.
